Our producers are members of vulnerable communities in
Colombia
affected by forced displacement, internal conflict, human trafficking, land
mines, and overall lack of opportunities. These producers are men and women who
have been forced out of their land or have been left to care for their families
as a single parent. Many are part of smaller groups of artisans who try to earn
a living by making products they hope to sell in the national market. Fair
Trade Colombia’s mission is
to help them market their products in the international market (primarily in Canada and the US).
Below is the list of producers that we are currently
helping. This list changes constantly as we add more products / producers to
our group.
We encourage you to visit their blogs or websites to learn
more about them. The description in Spanish has been provided by the producers
themselves – they tell you in their own words who they are and what they do.
Producers:
A large number of our producers are part of the social marketing strategy created by OIM.
We have partnered with this international organization to represent their producers in Canada. Their social marketing strategy groups producers from all over the country who are from vulnerable communities. These producers have either been victims of the internal conflict or are people who have been displaced from their land; women who are heads of their families, widows because of the conflict, victims of landmines and victims of human trafficking.
Can can learn more about these strategy in the link below.
